I am calling the bluff of those who throw around the label “R2K.”

Listen to the interview Scott Clark did with Senator Ben Sasse and tell me where he is wrong. Sasse has a smart understanding of the U.S. political system, the nature of civil society, and his own calling as a Christian and many other duties. Imagine that, he can speak American and Reformed.

And if Sasse doesn’t measure up because of 2k views, are the critics of 2k going to support the dominionist Ted Cruz, the Opus Dei Rick Santorum, or the liberal moderate Southern Baptist Mike Huckabee? (Are they so particular about their pastor?)

I don’t know what the Senator’s plans are or whether he can clear all the hurdles of a primary campaign. But if you want a Reformed Protestant who sounds more like Yuval Levin than Mark Levin, Sasse is your guy.

  5. Very pleased to say that Senator Sasse is my senator, and I supported him when he ran for the Senate. I would be delighted to call him President Sasse and will do what I can to make that happen.

  6. Did someone say Sassy? You do know that all that R2K stuff would be translated into “He’s a racist!”? Yes. Wait until the NYT, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NPR, the Washington Post starts digging into Reformed Theology. I can only imagine what they’ll do to our beloved Predestination and Limited Atonement. Heartless, Cold, Us-vs-Them Theology, God only loves some, etc. Be careful what you wish for. His #NeverTrump bonafides will mean nothing in 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036, and beyond.

    Ben Sasse may be the Sassiest Senator in Sassyland but i see Romney 2.0 all over again. Like a lamb being fattened for the slaughter.

    one easy symptom would be ‘piety’ caller-outers (in a disdainful way), even in this brotherly realm, of those who are only referencing God’s word. Another is the resistance to the truth-all of life is to be worship, how could it not be.
