How Does Reform Happen?

Megan Hill defends praying for big toes, and then goes a step too far:

When we pray together as the church, we should regularly and deliberately pray for the God-directed mission of the church: the advance of the kingdom, the strengthening of the body, and the exaltation of Christ.

But it is no mark of holiness to disparage the small and sometimes immature requests of those who are also in the body. As people who are being built up together into Christ who is the head, we have good reasons–kingdom reasons!–to sometimes pray together for dead birds and ill aunts and next-door neighbors who have had bad news.

It may not be a mark of holiness, but to reform a church you have to break some eggs (and wound some egos). Imagine if Luther and Calvin had thought criticizing the veneration of saints were marks of unholiness.

So why not make an argument based on Scripture or wisdom, rather than questioning the holiness of those who question the oddities of small group prayer?

    ok , I looked some up for you, DG:
    Acts 1: 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer.
    Matt18:20 where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.
    Eph 6:18 With all prayer and petition,pray at all times in the Spirit, for all the saints,
    James 5:16 confess your sins to one another,pray for one another so that you may be healed.
    Phil 4:6 in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
    1 Tim 2:1 I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men

    btw, 1 Sam 12:23 far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you

    everything = (some things) + (a toe + every ‘oddity’) + (every other thing)

    oh wait, appreciate the post reminder, how reform happens…“but to reform a church you have to”….pray
    revised formula then:
    everything = (some things) + (a toe + every ‘oddity’) + (reformation) +(every other thing)

    This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything (that is , ANY thing –see above ) according to His will, He hears us, and if we know that He hears us in whatever (that is WHAT ever–see above) we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. 1 John 5:14-15
